• New Humanitarian Mission to Zambian and Tanzanian Hospitals
Members of the Organization visited and donated during October 2010 quantities of needed medicines to "Chainama College Hill Hospital" and "Our Lady's Hospice" in Zambia, as well as to "Ocean Road Cancer Institute", "Muhimbili National Hospital" and "Kidamali Clinic" in Tanzania. The members of the mission (Mr. S.Seremidis and Ms. Dora Manolakou) welcomed by the President's wife H.E Thandiwe Banda in the State House of Zambia (Lusaka)

      

• Humanitarian Mission to Tanzania - S. Africa
A team of "World Pharmacists" moved a quantity of cytostatics medicines and other medical supplies to the Ocean Road Cancer Institate (ORCI) in Dar es Salaam - (Tanzania), on April 2010. More medicines will donate also to Muhimbili Hospital, soon.
The Organization also donated 4.000 tins of the high nutrition value "Zadza" food (8.000 meals) for the poor patients of the Thembalethu Day Hospital and Comay ARV Clinic in George (S. Africa).

• Photo Exhibition
The W.P. will organize a photo Exhibition in cooperation with the "Technopolis-Municipality of Athens", on September 3-8 2010. During the Exhibition days a photo travelogue from the Humanitarian missions of the Organization will be presented, enriched with a few of cultural events.

• Humanitarian mission to Gaza Strip
Under the cooperation of the Greek humanitarian Organisations "Fair Planet" and "World Pharmacists", a new medical mission forwarded to Gaza Stip (July 2010), through the Rafah passage in Egypt.

• The "World Pharmacists" NGO, in the occasion of December 1st - the World Day against AIDS, send a message for attention to the public as well as a message of sympathy and support to the HIV infected people and their families.



• The "World Pharmacists" NGO in cooperation with the Congolese O.N.G. "Pemideico" has sent off a quantity of medicopharmaceutical supplies fro the hospitals and needy people of Kinshasa.
The President of the Organization had the official meetings with the Congo Authorities, observing and recording the health and the social problems of the country.
A new project against expanding malaria in the country, will soon be established with the cooperation of "World Pharmacists" and "Fair Planet" NGO.

• Pharmaceutical material (donated by the pharmaceutical company Lavipharm, the Pharmaceutical Association of Heraklion, Crete and the Cooperative of the Pharmacists of Crete) was transported to Gaza via a ship hired by the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The vice President of the Organization, traveled to the area recording the health and social problems resulting from the war.

• A new humanitarian mission, aimed at offering aid to hospitals, clinics and institutions in Lusaka/Zambia, realized with the cooperation of the local Branch (World Pharmacists - Zambia). This mission also focused a medicine donation on the Cancer Hospital ORCI and other institutions in Dar es Salaam/Tanzania. They also traveled to Western Tanzania (Kitamali-Iringa) to support poor children of the area, with vitamines and other necessary medicines.

• "World Pharmacists" NGO organized a gala entitled "Household medication: Health and Environment", as part of the program of the annual exposition Medicexpo. The main discussion point was the improvement of the existing Greek Legislation regarding collection, management and destruction of expired or unnecessary pharmaceutical material.
A new Project will be established soon by the cooperation of W.P. and the Municipality of Athens (Department for Enviromental Protection).

• The President of "World Pharmacists" and the Organization itself were awarded for their contribution to humanitarian activities by the Pharmaceutical Association of Larisa (Greece), the body "Goodmorning Keratsini" (Attica, Greece) and the Rotary Clubs of Thessaloniki.


• Due to an initiative of the Municipality of Athens, and its cooperation with W.P. and other bodies, a new type of pharmacy opened its doors last December for people living in Athens who lack the necessary funds and insurance to receive appropriate healthcare. This "Social Pharmacy" which will be stocked with pharmaceutical material by W.P., will be housed in a private building of the Municipality and will accept prescriptions from municipal clinics only.

• W.P. participated in the mission of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs in South Ossetia, during the events of August 2008. Pharmaceutical material arrived in the capital Tbilisi on August 14th. This was immediately forwarded by the U.N. High Commission for Refugees.

• World Pharmacists participated with their own stand, volunteers and pharmaceutical material from member donations and various companies, in the very successful annual fair held by the foundation for children with mental handicap "Ergastiri" where, every year, foreign Embassies, Companies, Organisations etc, voluntarily participate.

• "World Pharmacists" Annual meeting entitled :
"Past and Present: Peregrination of Greek missions to African countries" took place at the "Antonis Tritsis" Hall of the Cultural Organisation of the Municipality of Athens, with great success and the presence of the representative of the Patriarchate of Alexandria and Africa, Ambassadors, the Coordinator of SAE/Africa, University professors, NGOs etc.
A reception followed.

      

• Quantities of medicopharmaceutical supplies (insulins, antibiotics and other specific medicines), were forwarded to Uganda, Republic of Congo, Kenya and Ethiopia, to attend to the needs of the population in the wider areas.
Members complete the check, selection and packaging of medicopharmaceutical material at the Headquarters of the Organization.

      

• The new nutrition program entitled "Food for Life" which aims to meet the needs of HIV infected persons, is being implemented in the George area by "Worldphamacists - S.Africa". The "Zadza" food tins for the patients were a donation of the Leontion Lyceum (Athens-Patissia).



• The quarterly magazine of "World Pharmacists" is published in Greek, but always includes a page under the title "News in Brief" in English for foreigners.
